About Me…

Hi…. I am Connor

I am currently studying a BTEC Diploma in IT & Computing. This course covers a variety of subjects and modules. Some of these include; Database creation, Cyber Security, 2D image creation/manipulation, 3D model creation using blender, web design and project management. These modules all followed the same structure where I was taught to break down client requirements, create/review a design, create a 1st iteration, then optimise the product.

One of my most influential experiences is the work placement at the Somerset Council with the IT transformation department that I attended in summer. This department is tasked with finding intuitive solutions to problems throughout the council. I worked with Alex Bliss and members of his team to produce a chatbot to navigate through HR documents. This chatbot will also be used as the foundation for the Somerset Council to transform their entire Intranet to a chatbot system. During my work placement I developed skills in professionality, app development and teamwork.

These skills in team working, communication, leadership, and creative problem solving have all helped me progress towards my desired career in UI/UX design as my teamworking and responsibility skills will help me in a team where I can contribute and listen to others to produce the most suitable solution to any problem. My problem solving and creative thinking skills will all have contributed to me being able to create intuitive solutions.

I very much enjoy playing video games and through this I have developed a passion for games design. In my spare time I have been developing my skills in 2D/3D games development using unreal engine. Most recently I have been focused on 3D asset creation using Blender.

I work part time at a local trampoline park where I have gained experience in customer service, team work, responsibility and improving my employment skills. For October 2023 I won “Employee of the Month”.  From my work experience, collage work and social life, I have gained a wide range of academic and social skills that will make me perfectly suited for a classroom environment where I can further advance my knowledge and work within a team. I will thrive in an environment where I am encouraged to think “outside the box” and develop my own solutions.

Between the age of thirteen and sixteen years I was a member of the local scout group. During this time, I achieved in record time earning a Gold award. This award showed my commitment to teamwork and my determination to succeed and learn. I learnt a variety of skills through various activities such as rafting, orienteering and camping which enabled me to problem solve, both as an individual or within a team.

A mock website made for my BTEC diploma in IT. This scenario of the project was to create a website for Somerset Festivals to sell and promote tickets to their upcoming festival.

Flowlab Game Designs

I have created a few games using the flowlab.io game creator during my years in secondary school. These games helped me develop my understanding of logic and programming.
